ABOUT ME

I think it a worthy and significant endeavor to take on leadership roles that benefit all types of organizations, whether that be in business, religious institutions, or international entities.

– Tom McDonald

I have been an instructor at National University in San Diego for the past 14 years.  I was an elementary school principal in Half Hollow Hills in Dix Hills, NY for 11 years, having the pleasure of working with a very professional staff who exhibited high expertise and full commitment to their students.  I served in a missionary role in South Sudan over a three-year period working to help the indigenous communities establish leadership structures in the village of Wudu.

I have a Ph. D. from New York University in educational administration, specifically distributive leadership/team building, that has helped me to know more about serving a professional staff.  I lived in Setauket, NY and was elected to the Three Village School Board in Setauket.  I served 5 years with a singular goal of advancing a more focused decision making. While on the Three Village School Board, I was asked to represent Suffolk County on the Long Island School Board Executive Committee.  This committee was made up of 9 representative board members from each county who met to discuss how state and local governments might affect state-wide decision making in the coming years.

All in all, my 45 plus years in professional circles have had me wear many hats and face an array of challenges.  No matter the level of success, nor the extent and complexity of the myriad of issues that I faced, my investment in high quality decision-making was important to me.  I believe in systems’ theories and models that facilitate collaborative environments.  I think it a worthy and significant endeavor to take on leadership roles that benefit all types of organizations, whether that be in business, religious institutions, or international entities.  Most research tells us that there is a gap between the available positions of leadership and the number of "ready-in-waiting" candidates to take on these roles.  It has been my singular purpose to close that gap.
