Consensus Building

Creating a Common Vision for Your Team or Organization.

Collective involvement can lead to collective ownership which engenders collective efficacy.

Through persuasion, consensus is agreeing on decisions we can live with. It is power in the form of knowledge. It evolves from an open discussion until all participants feel satisfied with the decision. It is a process by which a group fashions a common vision. Research has shown that no good decision reaches quality levels of effectiveness absent consensus.

Questions to consider:

  1. How do we generate manageable involvement?

  2. What are the unintended consequences of sharing decisions?

  3. What does consensus look like, and how do we know when we have achieved it?

At Oak Tree Leadership Training, we will help you create the structures and the mindset of consensus. Using the “Fist of Five” process, we will practice sharing ideas without confronting personalities.
